Develop Your Own Grind.
Grinding coffee yourself not only allows you to have the freshest coffee but it is also one of the most important aspects to making great coffee. Due to oxidation that will stale the coffee grounds as soon as you grind the beans, it is always recommended that you grind your coffee beans right before brewing.
At Roast A Bean we offer blade grinders and conical burr grinders.
Blade Grinders
These coffee grinders use a blade to cut up the beans. You control how fine of a grind you want based upon how long you grind the coffee. The blade grinders, because of their grinding method, cannot achieve the consistency of a fine grind needed for espresso. They are easy to maintain and clean up after grinding. To achieve a coarse, medium or fine grind we recommend the following grind time.

Conical Burr Grinders
These burr grinders crush beans to a uniform size between two cone shaped burrs that face each other at a distance that determines the grind size. Each grind setting on this type of grinder sets the burrs a specific width apart, so you get the same consistent grind every time.
The beans fall between the two burrs and are ground. These grinders have a stepped adjustment setting so you can select the exact coarseness or fineness of your grind. These grinders are known for their precision and consistency.
